Nine characteristics of our learners

1. They have never known a world without smartphones, tablets, and social media.
They expect technology, dynamic and interactive content.

3. They are social enterpreneurs and like their learning to have meaning and purpose.
You can allow them to do Genius Hour or 20% Time Projects. They can feel connected to what they like.
4. They think in 4-D, 360-degree, and high-definition videos
Google Expedition is a great idea to be used in the classroom. Also, videos made with their phones.

5. They prefer to do hands-on and interactive projects
Consider having students do projects that are in line with their learning style For example, something musical or kinesthetic. You can also have them learn how to code using apps like Sratch or Google's CS First

6. They communicate in short, bite-sized ideas
Allow students to tweet with authors. Teach them how to write effective comments and reviews. Try the 100-Word Challenge and the Six-word Memmoirs

8. Their social circle is global
Create opportunities for students to connect with experts and peers who are from other geographical areas and have different perspectives. This allows them to crowdsource their learning, and teaches them empathy and how to harness the power of collaboration. They like to receive guest speakers live or online. Prepare them for the meeting.

9. Their cell phones are the hub of their social lives, with their apps of choice being Snapchat, Instagram, etc
These apps should be used in class only if it is according to the school's policy and in a very safe and educational way.
